European Travels
This is one of the several American World War II military cemeteries scattered across Europe.  I personally did not have any family members that I know of pay the ultimate price, but I was still struck by the sheer, stark whiteness of the headstones that arose from the ground in vast ranks.  Even in death they’re still in formation.  I’m sure that if they’re still aware of that they’d chuckle, and perhaps appreciate that.  Seeing this makes me so proud of both them and my country, my home… Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his friend.”  I saw that today, and listened to accounts of these heroic men.  Not only that though. They fought for a people they never knew as well as their brothers-in-arms and country.  To these fallen heroes… I salute you.
